Bill Russell (original name William Felton Bill Russell) was born on the 12th of February, 1934. He was an American professional basketball player who has now retired. He played at the center position for the Boston Celtics team at the NBA. His achievements represent notable wins he received in his professional career. He has won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award as much as 5 times. He has also won the All Star player for an impressive 12 times. He is 6’9” tall player occupying the center position of Celtics Dynasty that boasts an impressive 11 victories in the NBA championships when Russell was part of the team for 13 yrs. Bill is the player sustaining the maximum championship records to have won by an American athlete in any sports league behind Henri Richard of Montreal Canadians, who plays for the National Hockey League.

Previous to making debut in the professional basketball, he represented the University of San Francisco in a couple of back to back championship of NCAA during the year 1955 and 1956. Bill won a gold medal in the Summer Olympics of 1956, a gold medal at a time when he was he was captaining the national team of US basketball. Bill Russell got the recognition as the World’s finest defensive player in the NBA. He was very renowned for his man-2-man breaking techniques and shot blocking which were primarily regarded as the key reasons of Celtic’s achievements.
